My name is Dr. Cidonio Cantu Jr. I began my educational career in 1987 at St. Joseph Catholic School. In 1992, I was employed with the Alice Independent School District as a Business Information System teacher at Alice High School. I spent nine years teaching at Alice High School before accepting my first administrator position at Memorial Intermediate. Over the next four years, I served as the Assistant Principal at Memorial Intermediate School. In 2006, I served as an Assistant Principal with the Austin Independent School District at Oak Springs Elementary School, servicing students from the most extensive public housing program in Austin, Texas. I returned to the Alice Independent School District in 2018 as the Alice High School building principal. This year marks my thirty-six years as an educator and twenty years as a campus administrator. As an experienced educator, I have served and supported all grade levels of PK through 12th grade
My educational experience has allowed me to collaborate with a diverse group of individuals to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and the social-emotional well-being of students and staff. My educational philosophy is focused on my firm belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, a robust and competent leadership, a dedicated and focused educational team rooted in data-driven results, an encouraging community, and a supportive family. With the superintendent's leadership, Central Office leaders direct and support the Alice Independent School District to demonstrate the above competencies when servicing students and parents in our community.
I am a native of Alice and graduated from Alice High School in 1978. I received my Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Texas A&I University in Kingsville in 1984. I returned to Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, where I received my Master's Degree in Occupational Training to satisfy the coursework in the area I taught at Alice High School in Career & Technology. In 2004, I graduated with a Master's in Educational Leadership. I accomplished my educational goal of attaining a Doctoral Degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in 2004.
