Words from our Principal!
As we embark on a new semester at William Adams Middle School (WAMS), several changes will take place to address your child's academic needs. Some of the changes will include an emphasis on specific TAKS objectives identified as areas of concern. Our highest priority is ensuring that all students are successful at WAMS. As a reminder, the Student Success Initiative requires us to retain a student who has not mastered the eighth grade TAKS test.
The revised bell schedule is one of the changes that will be taking place beginning the second semester. We will be adding a 40 minutes TAKS Assistance Period (TAP) in the middle of the school day. Our first bell will ring at 7:50am and school day will end at 3:24pm. Having your child at school on time everyday will help them be successful this school year and years to come.
We are confident that you will assist us in keeping classroom disruptions to a minimum by picking up your child for scheduled appointments between bells/periods. Additionally, we ask that you provide lunch money, gym clothing, band instruments, etc. to your child when you drop him/her off at school.
We look forward to this exciting time at WAMS. With your support and involvement in your child's education we can be successful. If you have any questions or would like some clarification, please feel free to call us at (361) 660-2055.
Yours in Education,
Lucy V. Munoz
